Be Gutsy in 2020

Each year we like to set an intention which helps us keep focused and directed towards our goals. It also helps create clarity, when a seed is planted. In 2020 our intention is…

Be Gutsy!

  • It’s stepping out of our comfort zones to reach our goals
  • It’s getting comfortable with being uncomfortable
  • It’s exploring new opportunities and embracing adventure
  • It’s breaking down barriers
  • It’s being bold, adventurous, courageous and daring

Our wish for you in 2020 is to make your dreams a reality. All progress begins with a brave decision – be gutsy!

2019 – Own your Success

Happy New Year!

We’ve had a wonderful few days away camping in Bright, Victoria. Lots of outdoor activities and much-needed R&R.

I always love to read a good book while on holiday – this year it was Michelle Obama’s ‘Becoming’.  A fabulous read – highly recommend!

One key message that Michelle repeats in her book, and which totally resonates with me, is that: ‘failure is a feeling long before it’s an actual result’.

This got me thinking about our BEXI focus for 2019. If success is something we want – then we’ve got to own it.

  • It’s about being consistent. Showing up. Creating positive routines. Every day.
  • It’s about supporting others to succeed. Celebrating their achievements, because when we focus on the element of thriving, we all benefit.
  • It’s about thinking big and believing that we can. It creates structure and a game plan, no matter how small the goals are.
  • It’s about applying a positive mindset.  Embracing change. Sharing information.
  • Lastly, it’s about showing gratitude.  For our friends and family who support us. The challenges we face. More appreciation brings more gratitude. Which in turn brings more success into our lives.

Our wish for 2019 is for you all to succeed in whatever you set your hearts on.  We will be there to support you every step of the way. We’re inspired, we’re excited and we cannot wait to get started,

Yours ‘ready to rock 2019’,

~ Debbie & Team BEXI  xoxo

To achieve or not?

I love reading biographies of successful people. How they start with humble beginnings and then go on to achieve great success.

Take Chris Froome for example – winner of the recent Tour de France. Born in humble Kenya, spending his youth riding through townships, past wild animals, until winning his first race that his mum entered him. His book, ‘The Climb’, is an exceptional read and highly recommended!

The key point I want to make is that we all start from modest beginnings. We then discover a passion and go on to pursue our passion.

In the case of Chris Froome, he had a burning hunger to pursue his passion for cycling. He trained incredibly hard physically – but what propelled him to the next level was his mental strength.

Understanding how to stay focused, overcoming our fears, managing our anxieties, removing our self-limiting beliefs, developing our self-confidence, maintaining our self-motivation, the list goes on….

Beauty of Exercise is very passionate about supporting you in pursuing your passion and achieving your own success. Over the past 5-years we have focused purely on the physical-side of training our athletes. We have dabbled in the mental-side of training, but have not really hit the mark.

Which is why we are super-excited about teaming up with SportsSupports to deliver our ‘Mental Preparation for Athletes’ program. Grant Giles and Christie Sym have successfully coached a number of athletes over the years, many of whom have gone on to achieve great feats (& podiums).

Grant and Christie will be hosting our 6-week online webinar program, starting Thurs 11 August at 8pm.  If you’re wanting to address your fears and progress your passion to the next level, this webinar is a must!

Get Hatched or go Bad!

We’ve had a booming start to 2016 – and pretty soon our first term is going to be over. Boom, just like that! Which is why the topic of our blog is so timely.

“We cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.”

What does this mean?

In order to progress, we need to change.  We all love our day-to-day routines – wake up,cup of tea, breakfast, kids to school, head to work… etc. But if we all lived our lives following the same status quo… well, guess what?! We are going to get what we’ve always gotten – fact!

My story

Heading into 2016, my life was pretty hectic. Running a business, prioritising family, moving house (stress!), focusing on health/fitness… the list was endless. Whilst I was trying to advocate a balanced lifestyle… I was the one running ragged. My head was deep underground (or Facebook rather) and the important things in life were passing me by. I needed to take control and make some changes.

Affecting change

Change is hard! Especially when it comes to taking a step back from something that you have loved and nurtured for over 5yrs. Our BEXI community means the world to me – it is my second-family. I have forged some incredibly deep and meaningful friendships. But I knew that I needed to take a step back in order to progress forward.

Running is my passion – I live it, I breathe it, I love it!  This is going to be my main focus moving forward. Coaching beginner runners; athletes training for half-marathons/marathons/ultras; and writing on-line programs for those who have their own personal goals.

Triathlon is my other passion – there is something really special about this sport. I am going to be partnering with recognised coaches to coach beginner triathletes – Sarah Anne Evans & Sue Bennett. Building confidence across the three disciplines (swim, bike, run), progressing to sprint/olympic and eventually long course distances. We will also be writing on-line programs for those who have their own personal goals.

Strength & conditioning classes are the key change. These classes will be relocated to our partner, Active Lifestyles, Collaroy. Marcel Soares is a recognised Holistic Coach & Exercise Specialist. He has a wealth of experience, particularly with athletes recovering from injuries. I feel truly confident that my BEXI athletes will be extremely well cared for by Marcel and his team.

What next?

Our Summer term comes to an end this Friday (8 April), we will have a short break over the school holidays and then reconvene on Tues 26 April for our Autumn term. In the meantime, our Race-FIT and Tri-FIT athletes will continue training for their upcoming races. On Sunday we will be cheering our BEXI runners taking on the Canberra Half-Marathon — go team!

On signing off, I want to say a heartfelt thanks for all your support over the past 5yrs. I’m feeling energised and excited about the upcoming new term and look forward to supporting you little by little, until a little becomes A LOT!
