Our beginner & improver triathlon program is a 10-week training program focused on progressing the beginner and the improver triathletes. Our two levels target beginners who are looking to try their first open-water triathlon; and improvers who have completed a few triathlons and are looking to improve their times. We do so in a super-friendly, supportive and encouraging environment.

Each week you will attend face-to-face coached sessions in each of the three triathlon disciplines – swim, bike & run.

Our training programs are prepared in blocks and provided via Training Peaks. This allows us to provide individual plans that best suits your needs and goals, as well as giving us the feedback and analysis tools we need.

Our race goal will be the Callala Triathlon Festival on 10-11 December 2016, at Callala Beach, Jervis Bay.  This event is a beautiful ’boutique triathlon’ and a much-loved event on the triathlon circuit.

You will have the choice of three distances:

  • Enforcer (swim 400m | bike 15km | run 4km)
  • Sprint (swim 750m | bike 20km | run 5km)
  • Club (swim 1km | bike 30km | run 8km)

What is covered in the 3 disciplines?
Swim – the program is divided into three phases focusing on technique, drills and open water confidence. By the end of the program you will be able to improve your feel for the water, control your breathing, execute the pull and feel confident in the open water.  No matter your level of swim fitness and technique you will be able to clearly monitor your progress.
Bike – we will progressively build up your cycling skills and confidence through a series of drills and awareness exercises.  From learning the basics of bike anatomy, and assessing your current level of ability, we will cover braking and stopping, gear selection, riding up and down hills, and the art of cornering. Working within the safety of the closed roads on North Head, gives us the perfect place to practice. We will also build in some fun runs off the bike to get your legs race ready, and the all important transition practice ready for your race. By the end of the 10-weeks you will feel more confident of your ability to ride and feel ready to race!
Run – we start with a combination of running/walking short distances and gradually build the running distances. Our main focus is to teach you the correct technique for running so that you feel stronger and stay injury free. Interval training is based on alternating short, high intensity bursts of speed with slower, recovery phases throughout a single workout. There is a big focus on mind-body connection, where we practice mental focus and relaxation techniques. At the end if the 10-weeks, you will feel stronger and be able to run 5-10km confidently.
