Fab Friday Flat-run at Church Point

If you’re looking for a gorgeous, flat run (maybe one small hill!) then definitely consider Church Point. This morning our Friday Run Club met at Coffee Brothers in Mona Vale then ran to Churchy and back. Super-gorgeous route.

If you’re looking for good coffee, then @Coffee Brothers is it!
If you’re looking for a fab running group on the northern beaches, then we’re it…

Thanks for teaching me mummy, I love running now

I received this beautiful email recently from one of our long term members, Cass Warner. So inspiring!

Dear Debbie, I can’t help but share this with you.

This morning my son, Brad was getting ready for school and I said “Sports day buddy, put on your sport uniform”.

He complained, “Awww no, running. I hate running, we have to run up that really, really big hill and it’s so hard!”. It surprised me at first because Brad loves running when he’s playing, but he doesn’t have a competitive bone in his body and he certainly doesn’t rush anywhere. So I thought about it a bit and remembered how much I hated running at school too, always coming last and hating the hills. Then I thought about all the things Debbie has taught us. So I gave him a really quick little lesson in running up hills, “Don’t look at the top and worry how far there is to go, just take each step as it comes and COUNT. Count to 10 then look up, count to 10 then look up. Don’t worry how far to go, you’ll get to the top quicker if you’re not looking at it, count to 10 and look up.”

WELL!!

When I picked him up from school, we were chatting and I asked how his day was. He said “Awesome, I got a mini merit!!” I said “Fantastic, what for?” “Running!! I did exactly what you said mummy and it worked really, really well!! I didn’t come last, I ran really fast and I actually beat lots of people and they gave me a mini merit. Thanks for teaching me mummy, I love running now.”

Tell you what. My heat melted. Thanks for your tips Deb, they extend further than you could imagine…

Running really is awesome!

One of our beloved members, Sarah Jefferson, recently shared this photo and her thoughts with our group…

It is amazing to look back and realise what we all have achieved!

This is me for the past 2.5 years! From moving to Sydney not knowing a soul and not being able to run to completing Tough Mudder, a triathlon, 5 half marathons in 4 different states, meeting some of the most inspiring people and making life long friends – running really is awesome!

Everything worth doing starts with being scared

Beauty of Exercise is all GO for the Australian Running Festival in Canberra on 11-12 April 2015. Choose from 10km, 21km or 42km events.

The autumnal colours, cooler temps, iconic buildings, great atmosphere and awesome team camaraderie, make running in Canberra during April really enjoyable!

Which is why we have made the Canberra Marathon a regular fixture on our race calendar. We are offering coached training programs for the 10km, half-marathon and full-marathon events.

Training for the marathon starts Saturday 6 Dec 2014.
